Home>Iraq Opinions> War in Iraq Justified

Some of this next letter is from my previous on the war in Iraq (Let the Soldiers GEt the Job Done) this one I posted on a web forum inside of Yahoo!, but has been extended and added upon. It includes some new information and a little more personality from me since I could write more than 300 words.

War in Iraq Justified

Well, it looks like the majority of this debate board has been the war in Iraq, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

I have to agree with the president on the war. Now let me clarify that I do not like war, especially since there is a good chance I could go in the next round, but in this case it is needed.

I also have to say that I am ashamed of all of the war protestors that speak out against the men and women of our armed forces. You all claim that you support the troops and not the President, but that my friends is a contradiction in itself, since the President is their commander.

Also when you say that you want the troops home, I agree, but let them finish their job. If they don’t, what do you think will happen to the people of Iraq? That evil man Saddam and his regime will stay in power. You should have already heard of the tortures and hardships that those people go through. If you want examples I'd be glad to get them.

Keep in mind also, that this is not a war against the Iraqi people; it’s a war for their people. They are fighting a war the citizens of Iraq cannot. U.S. Soldiers and Marines have been given the order to keep civilian casualties down and to avoid messing with any religious sites, whether soldiers are there or not.

If you want to protest for peace, start by protesting Saddam. He is worse than any other person currently involved in this war. Why do you protest for human rights and peace AGAINST President Bush? You really need to pay attention to what you are saying. By protesting Bush and his “dictates” you support Saddam, who actually is an evil dictator. That is why people tell you to stop. They are smart enough to realize that an evil man should not be in power, how could you not see it?

I won’t say stop, it’s your right, but it offends me that you would be unsupportive of our president, our troops, and the Iraqi people. I would be upset beyond all reason if I was a Marine or Soldier down fighting not only the freedom of Iraqis but for your freedoms as well and all you can do is protest what I was doing.

Do you all honestly think that Saddam would have not sold his weapons for more money? I wouldn't put it past Saddam at all. Sure he may not have, but how can you trust the weapons in his hands?

Another thing, and this will be my final thought, is that many people protesting the war are now claiming that Saddam has been more moral in this war than our own President. That to me is outrageous. Sure Saddam hasn't used weapons of mass destruction, but how does that make him moral? Keep in mind also that we in the United States also have nuclear bombs that could have saved those hundred plus soldiers, but killed thousands of innocent Iraqis. Please tell me how we were immoral in this war? We kept casualties on all sides as low as we could at the risk of losing our own men!

I'll leave you with this last thought: I don't like war and I want the soldiers home just as bad as the next guy, but like I said earlier: get the job done and get out.
